The Dispatch of "The First Group of Volunteer Students for the Disaster Area" Has Finished! (11/09/08)

The Dispatch of "The First Group of Volunteer Students" for Tono City, Iwate Pref.(Tono Magokoro Net) consisted of 37 students and 5 teachers and school staff, 42 in total has finished.
They investigated the situation in Rikuzentakada City, Iwate Pref.-- the most damaged place-- and removed mud from houses in the Akahama District in Ozuchi-cho, and Hakozaki-cho in Kamaishi City.  Although it was short-term, all of the students devoted themselves to the volunteer work.  After the activities, on the way home, the students thought that they wanted to help the people more and asked themselves what else they could do.
In order to inform as many people as possible of the situation of the disaster area and the necessity of volunteer work, the students who actually took part in the activities will give a presentation.
The students who did the volunteer work this time strongly wish to work at the next opportunity, too.

70,000 pine trees used be on the Takada Matsubara in Rikuzentakada City. It is called "Miracle of the Single Pine Tree". It is 30 m tall and over 250 years old.
